J.E. (Ted) Newall, O.C.
Ted Newall is one of Canada's most successful business leaders.  After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1958, Ted rejoined DuPont Canada (where he had worked as a summer student) and rose steadily through the ranks. By 1979, he was the company's chairman, president and CEO.

In 1991, he returned to the Prairies, joining NOVA Corporation as CEO. Ted was chairman of Canadian Pacific Railway, Novelis and NOVA, and was a director of several major companies, including Alcan Aluminum, BCE Inc., Bell Canada, Maple Leaf Foods, and Royal Bank of Canada. Newall has also chaired the Conference Board of Canada, the Business Council on National Issues, and the Prime Minister's Advisory Committee on the Business/Government Executive Exchange Program.

Ted's activities in service to his community are too numerous to recount here. Highlights include a five - (5) year tenure on the University of Calgary's Board of Governors, founding co-chair of the United Way of Calgary's Children's Initiative, and his support (with his wife Margaret) of the Sheriff King Women's Shelter, and the Prairieaction Foundation. Ted and Margaret also serve, along with Retired RCMP Commissioner Phil Murray, as Honourary Co-chairs of the RCMP Heritage Centre's Protect and Preserve Capital Campaign.

Honours include being named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1994, and his admission to the Canadian Business Hall of Fame in 2001.

Margaret Newall, C.M.
